In September 2019, the Solar Water Heating in Industrial Process (SHIP) project in Egypt, supported by the UNIDO, developed a national roadmap aimed at strengthening the quality of locally manufactured products and components related to solar water heaters and solar thermal technologies. The project assessed the solar heating systems value chain and all the components of the solar thermal heating system manufactured in Egypt. This involved conducting a survey of the current potential manufacturers in solar thermal technologies and their components in Egypt. It aimed at developing the local manufacturing of the solar thermal heating systems and to encourage the engagement of SMEs, creating job opportunities within a green industry-based economy. As a part of the roadmap implementation, this best practice manual in manufacturing the main components of a solar water heating system was developed.
