WATCH: Building the capacity of Morocco’s energy management leaders

Industries, such as mining, textiles and ceramics – to name a few -, make a significant contribution to the Moroccan economy. But, the country’s industrial sector is almost entirely dependent on fossil fuel imports. For Morocco to meet its 2030 commitments, around half of the reductions in greenhouse gas emissions will need to come from industry.

To help get there, Morocco is expanding training on industrial energy efficiency. This is being done on a large enough scale to make a meaningful difference thanks to GIZ’s funding on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 2023, 60 industrial energy experts and practitioners from across the country were trained on energy management systems by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. In this video you will meet some of Morocco’s energy management leaders. They are on a mission to help the country to decarbonize its industries one energy saving measure at a time.
