PODCAST: Accelerating the Green Public Procurement Pledge

In October 2021 and again in October 2022, Rana Ghoneim and Alex Cameron of Decarb Connect held conversations about how UNIDO and the Clean Energy Ministerial are rallying governments to commit to buying greener materials like steel and cement to help decarbonize these sectors.

Governments buy as much as 40% of these key materials for major projects around the world, so getting commitments from countries such as India, the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, UAE and Saudi Arabia (all members of the Industrial Deep Decarbonization Initiative) is an important way to put this spending power to good use.
